SFHR Charity Week Is About to Begin – Let’s Stand Together for Píeta
From 7–11 September, the Reykjavík University Student Union (SFHR) will host its annual Charity Week. The goal is to bring students, staff members and the wider RU community together to raise as much money as possible for Píeta.
From 7–11 September, the Reykjavík University Student Union (SFHR) will host its annual Charity Week. The goal is to bring students, staff members and the wider RU community together to raise as much money as possible for Píeta.
The week forms part of Yellow September, an annual awareness campaign focused on mental health promotion and suicide prevention. Píeta provides free support and counselling to people experiencing suicidal thoughts, as well as their relatives and loved ones.
Everyone Can Donate
The fundraiser is hosted on Stubb, and all proceeds will go directly to Píeta. You do not need to make a large donation to make a difference—every contribution matters, and many small donations can create something truly meaningful.
You can support the fundraiser by:
- Donating directly through Stubb.
- Scanning the QR code included in the Charity Week promotional material.
- Taking part in the week’s events.
The fundraiser is open to everyone—not only RU students and staff. We therefore encourage the entire RU community to spread the message as widely as possible.
Charity Week Programme
Monday – Charity Week Begins
The week will officially begin at RU, with SFHR offering yellow refreshments. Tickets for Oktoberfest will also go on sale in Sólin.
Tuesday – Party Bingo
Anton Berg will host Party Bingo in Sólin. Each bingo card costs ISK 500, with all proceeds going to Píeta.
Wednesday – Clothing Auction
Freyr Eyjólfsson will host a clothing auction in Sólin. Guests will have the opportunity to pick up some exciting items while supporting an important cause. All proceeds from the auction will go to Píeta.
Thursday – Fun Run Around RU
A fun run will take place around RU. The participation fee is ISK 1,000, with all proceeds going directly to Píeta. The Atlas student association will lead the warm-up, and everyone is encouraged to wear yellow.
Friday – Wheel of Fortune
Charity Week will conclude with a lively Friday in Sólin, featuring a Wheel of Fortune, prizes and more activities.
Challenges Unlocked by Your Donations
Individuals, student associations and councils across RU have committed to completing a range of fun and demanding challenges as the fundraiser reaches specific milestones:
- ISK 370,000 – Tvíund will host a 24-hour livestream at Next Level Gaming.
- ISK 400,000 – Kristín will bleach her eyebrows.
- ISK 425,000 – Pragma will host an HBT group workout with Viktoría Helgadóttir at 20:30 on Wednesday in Kringlan.
- ISK 450,000 – Brynjólfur, Dagur and Maya will get spray tans.
- ISK 475,000 – Ingibjörg will get an eyebrow piercing.
- ISK 500,000 – Pragma will take on a special 24-hour challenge.
- ISK 525,000 – Valli from Atlas will come to school dressed as Where’s Wally.
- ISK 550,000 – Rúnar and Orri will spend 24 hours inside RU.
- ISK 600,000 – Lögrétta will attend a class at the University of Iceland.
- ISK 650,000 – Tryggvi Þór will walk to RU from his home in Ásland, Hafnarfjörður.
- ISK 700,000 – Atlas will spend an entire day at a swimming pool, from opening until closing.
- ISK 750,000 – Tjörvi will get a “Guð blessi Technis” tattoo.
- ISK 800,000 – Arent and Birgir will run a half marathon while handcuffed together.
- ISK 850,000 – Markaðsráð will drive around Iceland in 24 hours.
- ISK 900,000 – Ari, Atli and Steinar will complete two marathons in Sólin.
- ISK 950,000 – Böðvar will get an SFHR tattoo.
- ISK 1,000,000 – Ýmir and Veigar will swim across to Kársnes.
- ISK 1,000,000 – Ragnhildur, Rector of RU, and Bryndís, Vice-Rector, will kayak to RU from Kársnes.

Charity Week is not only about the final amount raised. It is also about raising awareness of mental health, supporting the vital work of Píeta and reminding one another that nobody should have to face difficult times alone.
