New BN Board Takes Office

New board of BN - The Student Housing Association has taken office.

Three representatives of the Student Association of Reykjavík University (SFHR) have been elected to the new Board of BN - the Student Housing Association, including the newly elected Vice-Chair of the Board.

BN is a non-profit foundation governed by the Student Association of Reykjavík University, the Student Council of the University of Iceland, the Student Council of the Iceland University of the Arts, and the Student Association of the Technical College. The organisation develops and operates approximately 900 student apartments for its member associations.

Three SFHR representatives on the Board

The SFHR representatives elected to the Board of BN are Rúnar Gauti Gunnarsson, President of SFHR, Orri Thor Eggertsson, Vice-President of SFHR, and Magnús Már Gunnlaugsson, former President of SFHR. Magnús Már was also elected Vice-Chair of the Board.

Arent Orri J. Claessen, former President of the Student Council of the University of Iceland, and Kjartan Helgi Guðmundsson, Vice-President of the Student Council of the University of Iceland, were also elected to the Board. Arent Orri was elected Chair of the Board.

Greater focus on tenants’ interests

SFHR’s representatives intend to take a more active role in advocating for the interests of SFHR members within BN Student Housing. In the coming months, greater emphasis will also be placed on strengthening dialogue with residents of the student housing, with the aim of ensuring that their views and experiences are more clearly reflected in the organisation’s work.
