Member Associations

Atlas is the association of sport science students at Reykjavík University. Its mission is to look after students' interests, create a fun and supportive community, and build a strong sense of unity within the group. Atlas aims to make the program rewarding and enjoyable — and to create unforgettable memories along the way.

Through a wide range of events and fun gatherings, Atlas fosters camaraderie, strong connections and a positive campus culture. Atlas's biggest and most popular event is the annual gala, which kicks off with Gullboltinn (the Golden Ball tournament): at lunchtime, first-, second- and third-year students face off in a variety of sports. In the evening the celebration continues with games, good food and a party late into the night.

Lögrétta, the association of law students at Reykjavík University, exists first and foremost to look after the interests and wellbeing of law students and to act as a link between students and the management of the Department of Law. The board works closely with the department and contributes to its continuous development. Beyond that, the association promotes scholarly work in the field of law, both within the department and outside it — while also making sure the school year is fun and memorable.

The association operates through four subcommittees: the Debating Society, the Social Committee, the Lögrétta Journal and the Lögrétta Legal Aid Service.

The Debating Society provides a forum for discussing legal questions and trains students in argumentation and public speaking. It hosts open debates on the legal issues of the day.

The Social Committee runs the social calendar, organizing a wide range of events and making sure law students get a break from the books. Highlights include the first-year students' night and regular company visits to law firms, businesses and institutions.

The Lögrétta Journal is a peer-reviewed academic journal publishing articles in the field of law. It is aimed at scholars and students alike, as well as the general public, with coverage of pressing issues in society.

The Lögrétta Legal Aid Service is a program where third-, fourth- and fifth-year law students offer free legal advice to the public — gaining valuable hands-on experience in the process.

Markaðsráð is the association of business and economics students at Reykjavík University. Its goal is to strengthen student life within the Department of Business and Economics by creating opportunities for students to meet and connect. We put the emphasis on community, strong ties to the business world, and experiences that make studying at RU unforgettable.

Over the course of the year, Markaðsráð organizes a packed calendar of events — including the annual gala, a yacht trip, a Copenhagen trip, a ski trip and somewhere between 20 and 25 company visits. On these visits, students get to see companies from the inside, learn about what they do and explore future career possibilities.

Markaðsráð is also active on social media, where students can follow the latest news about student life at the university and everything else the association is up to.

Mentes is the association of psychology students at Reykjavík University. Its goal is to strengthen student life in the Department of Psychology and to create opportunities for everyone to take part. The association runs a wide variety of events throughout the year, including company visits, the annual gala, a ski trip and joint events with Anima (the association of psychology students at the University of Iceland) and other RU associations.

Pragma is the association of engineering students at Reykjavík University. One of the largest and most active associations at RU, it organizes company visits most Fridays, career nights with people from industry, the Pragma annual gala and plenty of other fun events.

Technis is the association of applied engineering students at Reykjavík University.

Tvíund is the association of computer science students at RU and one of the largest and most active member associations at the university. We host everything from company visits and the annual gala to home-bar parties, trips abroad and countless other events that spice up the school year.
